A WellCheck is a confidential mental health discussion with a qualified clinician, tailored to enhance your psychological resilience. It is particularly crucial for those in high-risk roles, such as Peer Support Officers.
Why WellChecks Matter
- For your wellbeing: WellChecks are essential for frontline personnel and individuals in roles with an elevated risk of psychological injury.
- Support in transition: They are equally valuable for those transitioning out of such roles.
What to expect in a WellCheck
- Participant-led discussion: The WellCheck discussion is participant-driven, allowing you to reflect on your exposure to psychosocial hazards and how you've managed and adapted using resilience and emotional recovery skills.
- Comprehensive focus: It covers both work-related and non-work factors that influence your mental health.
- Addressing concerns: If needed, WellChecks can identify areas of psychological concern, and your clinician will guide you on the next steps, which may include referrals to other internal or external service providers.
Confidentiality and your privacy
- Data privacy: All personal information gathered during your WellCheck will be held in strict confidence.
- Exceptions to confidentiality: Confidentiality will only be breached if there is an immediate risk of self-harm, harm to others, or disclosures related to the abuse of children or domestic violence. Such situations will be discussed at the beginning of each WellCheck session.
- Supervisor access: Your supervisor will receive limited information about your WellCheck. This includes the date of your appointment and confirmation of your attendance.
